How do I become a Creation District Studio Lead?

If your submission meets the needs of our studio, The Creation District Director will contact you to schedule a phone call or in-person meeting to go over details and logistics. You will be asked to submit a few brief lesson plans and then schedule your first class.
What qualifications do I need to be a studio lead?
We believe in offering our youth high quality creative opportunities, so while we would like to invite everyone to teach, we are specifically seeking Studio Leads with some relevant experience in teaching their craft, working with youth, or working with folks experiencing homelessness and economic instability. If you’re not sure if you have the right experience, fill out a form anyway and we’ll take a look and let you know!
How long are Studio Lead shifts?
A standard Creation District Studio Lead shift is two-hours long, but times can be adjusted depending on the subject and need.
When can I schedule my first workshop?
Right away! We are ready to get folks in the studio immediately!
Am I responsible for purchasing my own Workshop supplies?
No. The Creation District is a fully stocked art studio and will supply everything on its basic supply list Click on link to see basic supplies. Workshop Leaders can request any special supplies not on the basic supply list. Depending on cost and availability, we may not be able to fulfill all supply requests, but we will work with Workshop Leaders to pursue creative avenues to obtain all necessary supplies.
What are the ages I will be teaching?
The Creation District serves youth ages 16 to 26, but sometimes we get folks a bit younger and a bit older— we try to be as open as possible! The Creation District also teaching youth who are parenting so be ready to have little ones hanging around at the party!
How many participants will I be teaching?
The number of participants will vary depending on day, time, and subject, but on average, workshops will range between 2 and 10 youth. Again, Studio Leads can request a class size limit if necessary for the material.
Where will I be teaching?
The Creation District Studio at 1219 S Street. The studio is equipped with white boards, a projector, and all supplies on our basic supply list, large tables, and chairs. You are welcome to come by for a tour before you teach your first class.
