JEM MOORE (THEY/THEM): PEER MENTOR

Jem is a digital media artist, painter, photographer, and queer activist. They are classically trained in both digital and traditional art with a degree from Saint Mary's college. They have handcrafted an individual sense of style and creativity that is recognizable as well as memorable. For their capstone they directed, filmed, and edited a ten video mini series outlining their experiences as a black queer nonbinary person trying to navigate the modern dating landscape. They are passionate about working in and supporting their community. Jem strives to destigmatize mental health struggles and promote positivity around sexuality. Jem heals through meditation, painting, and making analysis videos on tiktok.

solovar galvan (they/them): peer mentor

Solovar Galvan is a mental health youth advocate, latinx men’s right advocate, musician and a proud member of the Project Heal team. Since struggling with mental health at the age of seventeen they have found a passion for helping others unleash their hidden potential whether it’s writing poetry or teaching anyone who wants to learn about music. Solovar is working towards opening a music school in hopes of teaching children how to express themselves through the powerful art of sound. Solovar, stage name BlueGambit, loves playing guitar and heals through music that focuses on mental health struggles. Furthermore, their favorite musicians who they look up to are lil peep, Ed maverick, anything from alternative/punk rock to folk music.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Akeonia (keke) Moore (she/her): peer mentor

AKeonia (Keke) is a recording musician, visual artist, and excited member of the Project Heal team. After graduating high school, Keke developed a deep passion for poetry and created her own full-length poetry project about mental health, love, and life struggles. Keke is passionate about helping others make it through their hardest days and working to de-stigmatize mental health challenges for youth everywhere. Keke is working towards a career in publishing children books and child education. Keke dreams of one day starting her own poetry club for youth and adults. Keke heals by dancing in her room like no one is on earth, writing heartfelt poetry, watching motivational Tik-Toks and listening to Taylor Swift 24/7. She also loves dogs, so WATCH OUT she's on the way to play with your dogs secretly and maybe in a corner.

Caleb Merrill (he/him): peer mentor

Caleb Merrill is a Peer Mentor at the Creation District in Sacramento. Caleb first joined the Creation District team in 2021 with Project Heal and FilmPro. He has a passion for film, photography, and music. Caleb strives to provide support and resources to youth in many communities including but not limited to youth struggling with addiction, homelessness, mental health, and the LGBTQ+ community. In the future he sees himself continuing to support youth with creativity and passion. Along with supporting his community, Caleb heals through music, photography, and spending time with good humans.

Alma alderwood (he/they): Peer mentor

Alma Alderwood is a recording musician, artist, poet, and proud member of the Project Heal team, a group focused on helping spread awareness of mental health and helping youth to not feel so alone. They work to create relatable art, music, and poetry with each piece showing depth. They are passionate about colors and emotion. They love colorful artwork and music that speaks to a person’s soul. They work towards showing others great and wondrous ideas and things that may occasionally be darkly themed, yet always with the powerful message, “You are not alone, its okay to feel the way you do and that there is someone who understands. And even though it may seem like all is lost a countless number of times. Perhaps you can find yourself again. Like you’ve done so many times before. And though all may seem lost. Finding it is part of the journey.” They hope that their work will make you feel less alone. Their strength comes from the art they create, the music they write, and even the occasional time spent at the piano. And of course, the amazing community that thrives at the Creation District.

JEWEL WILLIAMS (SHE/THEY): PEER MENTOR

Jewel (Diamond) Williams is a signed member of Creation District Records, Creation District’s independent youth record label, and member of the Project Heal Team. After graduating high school, Diamond developed a deep passion for music and video arts and produced two songs through Creation District Records. Diamond is passionate about helping others understand their own struggles with mental health. Diamond loves to write songs and spend time with their fiance Casper. Diamond heals through listening music, petting dogs (like Keno), and hanging with their friends and family at the Creation District.

XENO BROWN (ZE/HE): PEER MENTOR

Xeno is a music artist, skateboarder, and ever growing creative force. He has been creating and distributing music for since 2018 and has only evolved with his style. Starting off with a more soft and somber tone, and gradually building up to a more grunge filled style of music with punk and rock elements. He has performed at small venues through the years and even during some of the influential Black Lives Matter Protests of 2020. Xeno hopes to inspire the community around him and have a positive influence on this world and the next. Xeno heals through music, drawing, and entertaining people on tiktok.

KASSIDY ROSE (SHE/HER): PEER MENTOR

Kassidy Rose is a singer, songwriter, multimedia artist, and mental health advocate. Kassidy is currently working on releasing her first album, Worthy 7/24, and looks forward to performing her album on stage. She is passionate about loving people where they are at and helping people find their inner child. Kassidy also has a deep passion for theatre arts and helping people find their voice through the darkness so that they are able to share it under the spotlight. Kassidy dreams of one day being featured in a gallery and having her music played on the radio. Kassidy heals by singing into a microphone and remembering she is not alone by surrounding herself with creativity and community.

CHARLIE LOOMIS (HE/HIM): PEER MENTOR

Charlie Loomis is a guitar player who loves classic rock and is currently working on learning to play the drums. Charlie is funny, musical, and good with his hands. Charlie is passionate about helping others when they are down and helping others learn to play the guitar. Charlie aspires to perform on stage and start his own band. Charlie heals by listening to sad music and allowing wounds to open so that they can close back up by the end of the song. 

JASMINE CASTILLO (SHE/HER): PEER MENTOR

Jasmine is a multimedia artist, aspiring tattoo artist, and passionate about environmental conservation. Jasmine is interested in finding the intersection between environmental work and creativity. She loves vegan food and her best friend is her dog, Luna. Jasmine is creative, caring, earthy, artistic, and open minded. She is currently looking into going back to school and aspires to travel the world. Jasmine heals by creating art and spending time in nature.
